If you like visiting old places you could go to Cebu. It is actually the oldest city in the Philippines. And of course you can find there the oldest fort in the country - Fort San Pedro. Its construction began sometime in May 1565 during the time of Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. As you can see this was the early days of the Spanish conquest of the Philippines.
At first, this triangular fort was built using woods but it was later strengthened using stone sometime in 1620.
Sometimes tourists have commented that you could go around the place in just 15-20 minutes. And you have seen everything the place has to offer. Which they say is not much. But actually any old place seemed ordinary until you learn the story behind it.
For that it is recommended that you visit the museum located within the premises. Learn about how the place was used in the past and the historical figures who took office there. The museum is open at 7am to 11am only.
Modern Functions
Currently, this historical place is also being used to celebrate special occasions. You can reserve the place for birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. What better place to profess an undying love or recommit to your spouse than in one of the oldest and most historical place in the country.
